I don't use my laptop very often, so I only use this mouse occasionally. For what I've been using it, it's an excellent mouse. Smallish, but not too small. I like the fact, that the receiver hides inside the mouse and switches the power off while it's hidden.
Works flawlessly and feels good in the hand. For desktop, I'd prefer slightly bigger mouse, but for a laptop the size is just perfect, especially if your work area is limited.

I didn't experience tracking and long wake up time problem as other user has reviewed. I tried some different types of mouse pad and I think it's doing fine.
However I think this mouse is too small, I'm used to use large mouse. When I use it I feel more tired than use large mouse, and I'm not used to the back/forward button position.

I had this mouse for half a year. I suffered from this mouse a lot :(. First of all, the battery won't last for a week if you keep mouse awake. I am using rechargeble battery (Sanyo Ni-MH 2100 mAh). I also have a microsoft mouse, even though it uses two battery instead of one as V400, the battery can support me for half a year. Second, the focus of V400 is not good. Sometimes you can see the cursor is shaking without any movement. These days, I found a new big problem. The mouse is frozen when windows xy starts up. I thought it was xp's problem, eventually I figured out it was my V400 mouse. I had a very good impression with logitech. But this time, I will double think when I buy anything from logitech.

If your computer knowledge is anything but below novice, dont use Logitech. Logitech is only for those who atleast know how to turn a computer on and fiddle with very basic driver settings. I have been a logitech user for about 7 years, own atleast 6 logitech products and have been more than pleased with their quality of product and superiority of their software. Logitech is the best when it comes to their mice, keyboards, web cams, speakers, etc. For those who disagree, refer back to my previous statement, if your a novice, dont use logitech. Logitech is only for the novice class and higher class of computer users, because they are a quality company compared to the other mice and keyboard mfg's. To the user who supposedly had his driver removed for the keyboard, that only happens if you dont use advanced options to have it only install drivers for the mouse. Logitech software is outstanding and the problem you are referring to, never happens. This mouse that was just released is the best that logitech has released not only b/c it combines two fine point lasers for smooth handling, but also b/c it has a very nice battery saving feature that only Logitech provides. Logitech is the best hands down.

I had to do a system restore to repair the damage done by the software when it deleted my keyboard mapping. This is just completely unacceptable but what I've come to expect from Logitech. Every version of their mouse software I've used has gotten worse than the one before it. Now it is not just flakey but outright damaging.

Furthermore, the software lags considerably. In order to save batteries the mouse times out far too quickly. The "programable" side buttons are very difficult to activate and uncomfortable. Instead of textured button for your finger, the buttons come to a hard plastic edge in the center that pushes into your finger.

The tracking is erratic and jumpy. It is actually worse than the free laser mouse I was given with the purchase of my notebook. For this reason it is actually LESS useable than a normal optical mouse.

The software also resets my trackpad settings with each restart of the computer.
